Take all from Google for your Website
It is not surprising that Google is first and main search engines in English Internet in this time. If you are an online entrepreneur or even a traditional business owner you can’t afford to ignore Google and your presence on their platform. Chances are that Google Search is a major way that your potential prospects and clients either are or are not finding you.
But Google is much more than just a search engine. They are a very smart organisation that has morphed into a whole bunch of different services or utilities online. Many of these services they provide are free for you to use, while some are premium paid services.
Lets now look at some of the best services that Google provides so that we can quickly identify how you as a business owner can ‘get the most out of Google’. The areas we will cover are as follows:
- Google Adwords
- Google Image Ads
- Google Places
- Google Apps / Gmail
- Google Analytics
- Google Website Optimizer
Google Adwords. With the right training and a personal One on One Coach, your Google AdWords Pay Per Click campaigns are likely to provide the best ROI compared to other forms of advertising.
Google Image Ads. Choose a ‘conversion goal’ that will allow you to get at least 5 conversions a day – this means that you can graduate to utilizing Conversion Optimizer as soon as possible, a great tool! So for example if you’re selling products & only making 1 sale a day, choose an earlier step in the process (eg, adding a product to the shopping cart) as the conversion. You need data & the faster you can get it, the quicker you’ll be profitable.
Google Places. In Internet, over 60% of consumers research online before buying offline – Google Places represents an amazing opportunity for local Australian businesses to generate more sales leads online. Our Google Places blog looks at best practice techniques for getting more from Google Places listings.
Google Apps / Gmail. Our website management platform has basic email capability and is provided as part of the service we provide. This system is suited to situations where there are only a few mailboxes required and email is accessed via one computer (unless you prefer to use the web based email client)
Alternatively, we promote Google Apps as our preferred email platform (we use it ourselves) as it is extremely flexible and can be easily accessed via a large range of hardware and software options.
Google Analytics. A one-day course designed for marketers looking to gain a greater understanding of the inner workings of Google Analytics and online analytics generally.
This workshop is presented live off the web, and demonstrates real case studies and examples.
Google Website Optimizer. I think Content Experiments is a step backwards for existing testers and users of Google Website Optimizer, particularly because there is no MVT ability anymore. There are also a few limits, including a maximum of 6 variations per test. The only big useful improvement I see is the ability to choose any of your existing analytics goals as your converion goal (this was limited in Google Website Optimizer). However, for people who are new to testing, it should help raise the profile of testing, at least.
