Nokia first produced a 41mp camera phone, the Nokia 808 Pureview, about 18 months ago. At the time there were major complaints from customers that this phone used the out-dated Symbian operating system instead of the more modern Windows Phone 7. Nevertheless the award winning camera phone sold in large numbers.

There has been speculation ever since as to when Nokia would move the technology over to Windows Phone along with the suggestion that perhaps WP7 wasn't up to the job without Nokia-specific customization to handle the data requirements of the high resolution.

All this new phone is doing is blending the best of Nokia camera technology with Microsoft's phone OS (now presumably updated to handle the hardware requirements) to satisfy something Nokia fans have been crying out for for almost 18 months.

What a waste of pixels - the user will just put it through Instagram for that 70s crap Kodak effect anyway.

Wise Words

"When we finally presented it at the shareholders' meeting, everyone in the auditorium stood up and gave it a five-minute ovation. What was incredible to me was that I could see the Mac team in the first few rows. It was as though none of us could believe that we'd actually finished it. Everyone started crying."

Staying over with a friend was very nice and also useful. It made my trip cost way less, while I also had some...

My worry about losing the Queen

My worry about losing the Queen would be that she would still be entitled to take money from the Crown Estates. I hope when negotiations are taking place after the referendum, that the SNP would not go soft on this and on a number of other matters, like being over generous with the entitlement...

How to get indoor an orchids to grow and bloom?

The thing which, apart from Climate Gate, really knocked them sideways was that bitterly cold December 2013.

Louise wouldn't remember it because she was with Chris Huhne in Cancun at the time and kept telling us how warm it was poolside — while it was –15ºC here and...
